75 years ago, Ase and Pamela Hurlburt had a dream …. |

a dream of enriching the lives of children |
|
|
| |
With the support of the community and later in the custody of Trinity United Church, they have done just that. Over the years, a small beachfront paradise called Camp Hurlburt – located just 20 minutes from downtown Vernon – has touched the lives of almost 20,000 young people of all denominations, or of no particular denomination, through their experiences at Camp Hurlburt.
Camp programming encourages and challenges young peoples’ spiritual path; focuses on faith formation and environmental stewardship through experiences such as kayaking, canoeing, swimming, music, drama, arts and crafts.

learning how to live in new relationship with each other…
discovering new ways to being healthy, vital and life-sustaining…
becoming a place where anyone can gather in community… |

And in this world of technology, profit and self-promotion, there are fewer and fewer places where children and adults, in groups of their peers, can come together and truly experience the reality of building community in a natural setting. Time has also taken a toll on the facilities and the Camp needs to be upgraded.
Sincere, heartfelt communications were received from the community when asked for their advice, the message was clear. |

Trinity United Church has joined with leaders from our community to launch a capital campaign and raise the funds to rebuild, expand and renew the mandate of Camp Hurlburt. The Community Campaign is about a PARTNERSHIP OF VALUES with those who share this Vision and Values |

to help people re-discover the nature of community

to live the values of compassion – inclusiveness – acceptance – integrity - respect |

to experience emotional, spiritual and physical safety |

at a place that has become a sacred trust for all of Vernon – Camp Hurlburt. |

Rebuilding Hurlburt will create a new resource for the entire community and will secure another 75 years of positively impacting Vernon and surrounding areas. Along with the summer camps that will have capacity for more children, the new facilities will also be able to host events, retreats, meetings and special gatherings for families and community groups.

REBUILDING HURLBURT CAMPAIGN |

To realize our goal, we are raising $1.5 million in contributions from the greater community, through donations of direct financial support and materials/services in-kind.
Individuals, businesses, community groups and other organizations are being asked to become part of our plan to Rebuild Hurlburt. With support from all sectors of our community, we will generate new life to an already incredible resource that will benefit the entire community. |
